Eligibility Criteria:
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Show interest in STEM, or Civil Engineering field.
• Demonstrated academic achievement throughout high school.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and potential for future leadership growth.
Academic Expectations:
• Balance in personal life and participation/leadership in
extracurricular activities.
• Academic and course load record adequate to succeed in a
college engineering curriculum.
• Minimum 15 semester hour load applicable to the degree,
with 30 semester hours completed per year.
• Maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
UTA ASCE Student Chapter Engagement:
• First year: Join the American Society of Civil Engineers Student
Chapter and attend half of the meetings.
• Second year: Participate in Student Chapter activities by
attending half of the functions.
• Third year: Provide leadership and service to the Student
Chapter, including volunteering for committee service.
• Senior year: Demonstrate leadership, volunteer, and, if
elected, serve in a Student Chapter officer position.
Reporting and Evaluation:
• Provide written report each semester.
• Meet with Board Members to present progress in the
program.
• Provide a one-page maximum letter introducing yourself
and detailing your current endeavors.
• Include an official transcript.
• Submit your SAT score.
• Prepare a one-page application comprising a leadership
and extracurricular resume, along with an essay addressing
"Why Civil Engineering is for me" and "Why select me for Friends of CE."
